Day 15: Beach Party Take 2!

Climate: hotttttt

Miles 127 to 139

Morale: slog

"You're getting everyone's life story today. It's like PCT therapy." -Laura

Today was a hot slog. We laid down some miles in the morning, beginning with a large climb, but by 11 I was getting beat up by the heat, which reached 90 degrees. We took several long breaks, enjoying some really great conversations with the four thirty-somethings we have been hiking with.  Topics covered included: divorce, childlessness, to marry or not to marry...

But let's fast forward to the light hearted stuff.  When we finally arrived at our campsite, shockingly not too far behind the rest of the crew, we were able to pull together a Taco Tuesday using Laura's tortillas and cheesesticks, Leah's Spanish rice and Chilula, our dehydrated black beans, and Clint's MREs of taco meat.  Kiwi and Animal Style provided dessert.  It was a little miracle.  Afterwards, Clint read us some poetry from his backpackers poetry collection with vigor and passion.
