Day 68: Snow Storm at Chicken Spring Lake

Mile: 745 to 751

"Even my mom wants me to shut up about the PCT." - So It Goes

Boom kindly let me sleep in while he attended the morning meeting, where they decided to hike a short 9ish miles that day due to iffy weather.  When he returned, we dried everything in the sun, including all of our food which somehow got wet even in our plastic bear vault... Booooo heavy useless bear vault!  I made coffee, BUTTERED a BAGEL(!!), and generally felt like a lady of luxury.

We didn't start hiking until about 10, and about halfway to our destination, snow and hail started coming down harder.  Genie, Hardway, Spearhead, Boom, and I dodged from tree to tree has the thunder grumbled just overhead.  By the time we made it to camp, we quickly set up tents on snow and dove in, all of us shivering in our sleeping bags the whole afternoon.

When evening came, we braved the cold to visit with friends and admire the incredible wonderland around us.  Boom, Hardway, and Woodstock scrambled up the nearest mountainside, and at night, five of us crammed into Genie's tent for card club.

[After a night of rain it was a beautiful morning; it lasted about an hour; what is that I have in my hair?; Spear trudging through the snow; Taking refuge under some trees from the hail and lightning; tents acquiring some white stuff; view to the west; view to the east]
